Abstract

This experiment has and will continue to test the very fabric of working relationships between employees and employers. Some consideration must be given to working dynamics at home during the pandemic in Ireland. Is there a significant difference in levels of burnout and social isolation between those who are working from home during the pandemic and those who are not? Is there a significant difference in levels of productivity between those who are working from home during the pandemic and those who are not?

This study will look to identify the impact of working from home versus not working from home during the pandemic in Ireland on personal outcomes such as burnout and social isolation and professional outcomes such as productivity in work. We will also explore whether there are gender differences on these outcomes.

Participants were of the study were 122 individuals, 76 of these respondents continue to work from home and 46 participants have returned to onsite working here in Ireland during the pandemic. 72 women and 50 men took part in the self-report questionnaires and indicated their current feelings of professional productivity, personal burnout and social isolation.
