Abstract

This dissertation investigates generation Z’s attitude to work and their impact on human resource practices in Ireland. Being the most recent additions to the workforce, possess unique expectations and ideals that diverge from those of preceding generations. These factors greatly impact their interactions with and perceptions of their employers. This study examines the distinctive traits of different generations, with a particular focus on the significance of cultural congruence, cutting-edge human resources strategies, and mental well-being assistance in the workplace.

The study employs a qualitative method of data collection trough 10 semi-structured interviews, with the participants being members of the Irish generation Z population, identified using convenience sampling. The data was then analysed trough thematic analysis and 3 main themes and carious sub-themes were identified and discussed.

The findings concluded, Although employees appreciate supportive settings, flexibility, and access to mental health resources, these qualities do not play the most significant role in their decision to remain with an organisation. However, elements such as prospects for professional growth, streamlined hiring and training procedures, and concrete incentives are more influential in determining their enduring job contentment and dedication.
