Abstract

The following research introduces the design and implementation of a modular, web-based financial literacy video game with the aim of contributing to the understanding of four financial concepts: cash, debt, savings, and investment risk. A prototype game has been developed using HTML, CSS, and JS single-file code. The code has been deployed in Visual Studio Code and hosted in Google Sites. The gamification techniques implemented in the prototype game include quizzes, decision-making scenarios, and quests, each of which is followed by feedback grounded in learning principles. An automatic voice assistant was implemented (browser-based speech synthesis), which enhances engagement. Evaluation is provided through self-simulated testing, and the site’s link is included in this work to allow users to test and experience the gameplay of such an amazing creation. The prototype is feasible, accessible, and academically coherent, with limitations like real user testing and limited adaptability of the voice component. Future work should explore structured user trials, AI-driven live feedback, platform compatibility, and partnerships for scalability, with the potential for commercialization as a valuable and successful financial education tool.
