Abstract

Modern cloud platforms have become an important backbone for processing and securing large volumes of IoT-generated data which applies traditional cryptographic techniques to increase latency and inefficient resource utilisation. To solve this problem, IoT systems have increasingly supported latency-sensitive and security applications. This study has proposed a hybrid lightweight cryptographic framework that uses ASCON at the IoT layer with ChaCha20 at the cloud layer which is increased through parallel cloud processing. The framework has been designed to balance strong security guarantees with low latency and high throughput by reducing limitations of traditional cloud encryption approaches. Python-based IoT simulator and AWS cloud infrastructure has been used to implement and evaluate the system under controlled experimental conditions. There are some results which show that the proposed ASCON–ChaCha20 hybrid framework achieves reduced encryption and decryption time, improved throughput, lower CPU utilization and higher diffusion quality as compared to ASCON–DES and traditional methods. The high avalanche effect confirms enhanced resistance to cryptanalytic attacks.
