Abstract

Providing security to data is very important in today’s age were the instances of cyber attack and data breaches are increasing rapidly. There many techniques that provide security to data. However, combining different methods for data security can enhance the security of data that is transferred over a network or stored in database. In the study proposed here a multi-level data security system is proposed. The system proposed in the study combines data security techniques like cryptography, steganography, and differential privacy. The Advanced Encryption Standard(AES), and RSA are the cryptographic algorithms used in the study. The Least Significant Bit(LSB) method was used for performing steganography. Differential privacy was also added to the data before the data is stored. The system proposed in the study was implemented as a prototype web app which receives data in the form of text as the input. The prototype web app received the text to be secured and image as input. The prototype web app was tested and it was found that all the functionalities of a multi-level data security system was implemented successfully, as the prototype web app was able to securely store data, and makes it accessible to the authorized users, when they need the data. The results also showed that the RSA and AES algorithms were able to encrypt the data in an effective manner.
