Abstract
The quality of young children’s experience is closely linked to interactions between the child and his/her parent (CECDE, 2006). The Parent Child Home Programme (PCHP) promotes positive interactions (which are child-focused and child-led) between children, parents and local practitioners in the home. This paper outlines how PCHP, a school readiness programme from the United States, strengthens family interactions while extending children’s knowledge, skills, understanding and abilities in Dublin’s Docklands.
