Abstract

As container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes become central to modern cloud-native architectures, inadequate are customary perimeter-based security models at an increasing rate. This study tackles enforcing Zero Trust tenets like active verification, minimal privilege access, and network division within Kubernetes platforms since it employs solely native policy systems plus common open-source utilities. The design was practically implemented by us then tested on a Minikube cluster including default-deny configurations role-based access controls and identity-aware network policies. Security controls, with simulated traffic plus access testing, validated and deployed a real-world application (NGINX). Offering a fully documented reproducible model, this project closes the divide from Zero Trust theory and Kubernetes application. It is good for educational settings and research settings and enterprise settings. The findings do give perceptions that are actionable into security which is Kubernetes-native. Micro segmentation as well as access control can be feasible for achieving strongly without proprietary dependencies. The research is also in support of secure-by-design cloud infrastructure.
