Abstract
NCI Hub is an extremely user friendly system that allows to user to easily access information about the college’s services, facilities, staff as well as provide local transport information.
The system is based around the idea of making students and staff life easier by offering 24/7 on demand information concerning their course, timetables, room availability and facilities using a Facebook Chat bot with artificial intelligence.
The Problem
As it stands right now, if a student as a general question or query about rooms and timetables they must go to the college website and search of the required information there.
This process usually involves the student signing into the college portal or using the main NCI website. Most of the time students are using their mobiles to access the information on the go but NCI’s college page among others unfortunately don’t scale very well across mobile platforms a student has a choice of working through this issue or waiting to use a desktop.
In addition, it requires the user to navigate through several pages and logins to access the information.
This process has frustrated both myself and every other student at some point or another as it takes time and energy that could be more usefully spent on academic pursuits. Another area that the college can improve on is an interactive campus map that could more accurately represent the college’s layout and facilities.
How it’s being addressed
NCI Hub’s chat bot feature allows students to access this information on the go as well as offering an easy, more interesting, and responsive method in doing so.
NCI Hub will also provide a new interactive campus map for the college available on both desktop and mobile platforms.
