Abstract

This pilot study investigates the potential role for elearning in problem-solving psychotherapy. Problems with previous trials are discussed and the future role for blended therapy is examined. An online programme was created focussing on meta-therapy skills aiming to develop the potential of an individual for general problem solving. The problem-specific approach was not taken as the authors feel that for the user-group in this study it would limit the application of therapy to a specific issue. Initially 7 subjects were assessed due to time and resource constraint. This experiment served as what is called "proof of concept" and established the innovative idea of eTherapy in collaboration with the existent methods. The conclusions reached are that the potential for eTherapy would not be realised through a simple translation of existing therapy into online delivery. Etherapy offers potential to develop a new form of therapy.
