Almost every recent study of organisational success has highlighted the critical importance of developing a competent and committed workforce. Yet while most organisations would concur with the statement that 'people are the most important asset', few devote sufficient time and attention to translating this slogan into a working reality.
In practice, effective human resource management is pivotal to successful organisational performance and transformation. However, despite the overwhelming evidence of a positive link between excellence in people management and business success, the HR function has historically been neglected in many organisations. This book sets out to explore why this is so, and to redress the imbalance. It provides a road-map to help organisations develop a powerful 'turbo-charged' HR function which adds real business and organisational value.
