Abstract

In this thesis, an automated multi-cloud deployment framework is proposed to avoid vendor lock-in and enhance the availability of applications. The management and application of Kubernetes clusters on Amazon EKS and Google GKE is undertaken through a single Terraform/Jenkins CI/CD pipeline. The implementation has three deployment modes to achieve costs and resilience: dual cloud active deployment to achieve maximum uptime, primary standby architecture to achieve cost optimization and fast failover, and single cloud deployment to achieve rapid reprovisioning to remain independent of providers. Its structure consists of the Terraform infrastructure definition tool, Jenkins to define automated build and deployment processes, Kubernetes, a container orchestration engine, and Cloudflare, an intelligent traffic distribution tool. The solution displays enhanced automated provisioning, cross cloud monitoring with Prometheus and Grafana. Findings demonstrate that the multi-cloud automation improves operational reliability, minimizes the reliance on a single provider, and offers organisations with strategic flexibility in managing the cloud resources.
