There is such value in varying perspectives, interests, and approaches. For a long time, I thought I was wrong or somehow misguided because I delved into different disciplines and deviated from the more obvious, traditional academic endeavors of a behavioral psychologist. I was conscious that a glance at my list of publications would quickly expose me. Now, perhaps because there is a certain comfort that comes with experience, I embrace that difference. If I have learned anything from my academic journey so far, it’s that the road less travelled is often the most interesting, and that diversity is our greatest asset. In this chapter, I will bring you on a road-trip of sorts, to explore my journey through the world of human language and cognition, stopping off at the influential points that have made me the academic I am today.
