Abstract

Robotic Process Automation (RPA) usage is rising along with technological advancements and causing a swift growth in its adaptation. It is a rapidly growing field which involves setting up of bots or software processes which can be used in accounting to save time for important tasks, focusing on its potential and challenges, especially in typical accounting scenarios involving repetitive tasks. In this research, the researcher focuses on the PoC (proof-of-concept) of RPA approach, which involves testing automation using sample invoices to compare human efforts with automation, processed through three different methods. Invoice booking manually involves entering details like item names, prices, and quantities one by one into a ledger or software. Microsoft power automate method involves creating a flow and Python method has use of libraries like pandas, openpyxl, pdfplumber. The researcher examines how it requires careful attention to avoid errors and ensure accurate record-keeping whereas automation is a one-time setup of processes. The comparison and evaluation is recorded with different manual efforts, using Microsoft power automate, and python libraries.
