Abstract

The delivery of high quality services and the achievement of organisational goals are accomplished through the key asset of any organisation, its human resources. People will always be the key resource in all organisations. Given the complex nature of work today especially in the health service, these very key resources need to be able to work together in order to achieve such goals. This is fulfilled through a team based approach in order to achieve high performing teams. This research study is an exploration of such team performance within the Irish Health Service. The chosen area for this specific research is an exploration of performance of primary care teams (hereafter referred to as PCT). Not immune to external factors and drivers of change such as changing demographics it has influenced how the provision of health care is delivered to meet the health demands of Irish society.
