Abstract
The project is an online booking system, designed for use with any sports clubs who have facilities for hire within their own club. This is an area that is not currently widely available, in Ireland at least, and I feel that this project could prove very beneficial for any future customers. Most clubs currently use forms online, or have staff answering telephone calls, and I feel this application could save the club time and money by all of it being done online, and quicker than with human intervention. The online system has a simple form UI with the available options for the user to book their specified time and area, with immediate confirmation being sent once booked.
The design is in the form of a website, with all the necessary features as explained in this document. The main features are the admin section which can only be accessed by an admin, and the booking page, which can be accessed by the general public, once they have knowledge of the correct URL. The information is stored in a database, and gets updated and retrieved to be displayed to the customer, upon using some of the different functions available. Validation is in place in the backend to stop timeslots being double booked, and also on the initial setup to ensure at least a minimum of one area and time are selected.
Overall, the application works well and as intended. The functionality is generally seamless, and provides a nice easy-to-use interface, for both the admin user and the external customer.
