Abstract

The aim of this study was the establishment of a prototype online community to supplement the work of the Dublin Inner-City Schools Computerisation Project. WebCT was the chosen electronic environment in which the DISC ecommunity was developed. An overview of best practice in online community building is provided, and data gathered from an in-depth survey shaped the design and development of an online prototype. Initial feedback and experiences of the development process was then used to shape a future plan for a sustainable and scalable online community for the DISC project.
