Abstract

In this report the authors present the results of performing a quantitative analysis of basic blocks that are contained within SPECjvm98 applications. They firstly investigate the distribution of basic block sizes both statically and dynamically and then focus on frequently occurring basic blocks. They then present the findings on the workload differences between top ranked basic blocks and overall application. Finally the authors present the results from the investigation into the existence of a linear correlation between static and dynamic basic block frequencies
